A hand-woven bag made from natural fibres, with a drawstring fastening and a long strap that can either be worn across the body or on the shoulder.
Our Kankuama bag has been handcrafted by the indigenous women of Kankuama, on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Traditional techniques are passed from mother to daughter.
The bags are made from a natural fibre called fique, from a Furcraea bedinghausii plant. The Kankuama women grow this plant and collect the leaves to obtain fine threads.
The threads are dyed using natural plant dyes.
